This book has only three chapters and is part of the Old Testament. It was written around 663 to 612 BC and its authorship is attributed to Zephaniah himself: a prophet who lived at the same time as Nahum and Habakkuk “The word of the Lord, which came to Zephaniah, son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Ammon, king of Judah” (Zeph 1:1).
