The Second Book of Samuel details the beginning of David’s reign, when he defeated a giant in the struggle between the contenders for the throne of Jerusalem. He was a man of deep devotion to God and who won the loyalty of his people. The book does not spare even his sins, and as soon as the prophet Nathan pointed them out, David accepted God’s correction and even achieved victory in a period of civil war.
