The book of Amos was probably written around 750 BC, during the prosperous reign of King Jeroboam II in Israel and King Uzziah over Judah. ​​At that time the people were not sincere in the practice of religion and dishonesty and injustice were everywhere – principles that deeply displease God. And although Amos did not have a priestly education, he was true to his mission, directing his messages to the people of Israel (his neighbor to the north).
